The image is from a white water rafting trip which provided so many metaphors for life.
The stone cairn is balancing on a rock in the middle of the rushing river.
This represents such a great metaphor for experiencing life – life can be rushing around you, trying to pull you in – however, you can choose to be balanced and centered above it all.
As we rafted, we realized that the experience of the raft guide gave our river journey safety and fun.
As we approached large boulders in the middle of the river looking like we were going to hit them, the river flowed through the middle and took us with it.
And, yet other times, we bounced into a boulder and turned back down the river – until we paddled and started going in a forward direction.
We got pushed and scrapped against the canyon walls, yet easily made it back into the river flow.
It was beautiful watching the river flow and looking at the amazing nature around us.
We had several waterfalls along the route and the guides were playful by taking the raft directly under them to ensure that we experienced the full power of the waterfalls with laughter and joy.
Reflect on your life:
~Who are the guides in your life?
~Who are you a guide for?
~When you hit a life boulder, do you get turned around and lost in the turbulence or do you bounce back, right yourself and get back in the flow?
~Where do you experience get scrapped up or experiencing a rough time?
~What can you do to easily get back to the flow?
~How can you remember to look around and enjoy the simple beauty around you?
~How can you remember laughter and joy especially when too much seems to be falling down on you?
~What if you could be like the stone cairn and stay balanced and centered while life rushes around you?
There is so much more from river rafting that is a metaphor for life but I will stop here.
Remember, you create your perceptions and beliefs that impact your daily experiences and your future possibilities.
Consider the imprints in your life and those you have left with others or will leave in the future…what would you choose to do differently?
To get something different, you have to shift from the inside out.
